Meta to Unveil Luna Smart Glasses with Six Microphones and No Camera

Meta is set to introduce its new smart glasses model, Luna, which will not include a camera. This decision follows previous criticisms regarding privacy concerns associated with camera-equipped devices. Luna will feature six built-in microphones designed for communication with Muse, Meta's AI consumer agent, enhancing user interaction without the privacy implications of a camera.

The announcement comes amid significant financial losses reported by Reality Labs, Meta's division responsible for smart glasses development, in its earnings report from April. The unveiling of Luna is anticipated to occur at the Meta Connect event in San Francisco from October 13 to 15, 2026, with the last day to book an exhibit table being September 18, 2026. This follows a trend in the industry where companies are increasingly focusing on privacy-conscious technology solutions.
